Casework / FIELD NOTE 09

Police Chief Simulator incorrect case & registration mistakes guide

THE SHORT ANSWER

First identify where the error appears. A registration form mistake, a correction tutorial that will not progress, and “Incorrect Case” in Holding Cells are separate problems. Use the matching path below instead of discarding every case.

Correcting mistakes: what is actually confirmed?

The April 24 Prologue update added a quest that unlocks form-error correction, together with a tutorial. If you are in the Prologue and cannot use correction yet, start by checking the active task and whether that tutorial has appeared.

Work through one form at a time. Compare its information with the supplied identity document, identify the disputed field, and follow the correction controls shown by your build. This page has not verified exact pen clicks, a fixed number of required forms or an unlock day. If a corrected field does not count, capture it before changing another field so support can see the failing action.

An older January preview describes shredding erroneous paperwork and penalties for faxing faulty cases. That preview predates the correction feature. It is useful background, but it is not a current instruction to destroy every mistaken form.

When the photograph is the problem

In an April 20 Prologue discussion, the developer tells players to leave the minigame and compare the person standing in front of them with the photograph. The comparison target is the actual visitor, not just another part of the form.

If the photo still seems ambiguous, capture both views and include the edition in a report. This developer answer applies to the Prologue; it does not establish a universal rule for every full-game document field.

“Incorrect Case” in Holding Cells

Full-game Patch #7, September 19 explicitly lists a fix for “Incorrect Case” in Holding Cells. Complete pending updates, reopen the affected save and check the same prisoner-processing step.

If the message returns, record whether the prisoner was already present before the update, the paperwork you used and the exact interaction. The patch note does not give a manual save-repair method or promise that every older prisoner is recoverable. Keep a backup rather than overwriting your only save while testing.

Scanner and case board: check the sequence

A July 22 Demo-era developer reply describes holding the files, clicking the detective board to start the sequence, then placing the files in the now-available scanner. Use it to check whether you skipped the starting action, while following the prompts in your edition.

For the full game, Update #7 also provides a second scanner, board and computer upstairs in the Sheriff’s Office. See the dispatch guide for the next handoff and current board fixes.

If the correction task still will not complete

Report the full game title, build, exact task text, field before and after correction, and whether the problem repeats on another form. A short clip from opening the form through the failed confirmation is more useful than a screenshot of the final task counter alone.

We have not verified a current developer fix for every “pen does nothing” report. Claims that coffee, stamina or restarting will always solve it remain unconfirmed here. Use the support guide to document the failure without deleting save data.
