Police Chief Simulator Demo vs Prologue vs full game
The Demo is offered from the main Steam page. Prologue — Early Days has its own Steam listing. Neither should be confused with the full release.
Choose the right version
| Version | Where to find it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Demo | Main Steam listing | Look for the Demo download option. |
| Prologue — Early Days | Separate free listing | Released April 20, 2026. |
| Full game | Main Steam listing | Released September 17, 2026; receives full-game updates. |
Will my save carry over?
We have not verified an official promise that Demo or Prologue saves transfer into the full game. Do not move or overwrite save folders based on an assumption that these builds share a format.
Keep your existing installation and saves until the developer provides migration instructions. Steam Cloud appearing on a store page does not, by itself, confirm cross-version transfer.
Why does a guide show something I cannot find?
Check the guide’s version and date first. The developer has announced features specifically for the full version. An absent menu or room in a trial is not enough evidence of a bug.
When asking for help, include the full Library title, the build number if visible, and the exact objective on screen. This helps other players avoid giving you instructions for a different build.
A quick way to identify a mismatched guide
| What you see | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| A Prologue Library title | Use Prologue instructions for registration tutorials. Full-game hotfix numbers do not establish a Prologue fix. |
| A pistol in an old story walkthrough, but a Taser in your task | Full-game Update #3 replaced the storyline M1911 with the X-26. Follow your active objective. |
| A guide says you must interrupt your detective to work on a case | Full-game Update #7 added a second casework station upstairs in the Sheriff’s Office. |
| A save-transfer claim with no developer source | Keep the original save. This guide has not verified cross-edition migration. |
